TWO INDIANS BAGGED RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD 2015

Sanjiv Chaturvedi and Anshu Gupta from India have been awarded prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award for 2015.A total of five people have been given this prize which is also known as “Nobel of Asia”. Sanjiv Chaturvedi has been honored  for exemplary integrity, tenacity and courage in uncompromisingly exposing and investigating corruption in public office. He served as a Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at AIIMS and was in news for exposing corruption and banned drug supply. Anshu  Gupta is the founder of Goonj ,an NGO working to give proper clothing to poors by creating awareness among the mass. He has been awarded for creative vision in transforming the culture of giving in India and for his enterprising leadership in treating in cloth as a sustainable development resource for the poor.

ABOUT THE RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD
1) It is named after former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay and given by Philippine Govt annually.
2) Given to the Asian individuals achieving excellence in their respective fields namely leadership, Journalism, Literature and Creative Communication Arts and Peace .
3) Arvind Kejrival, Kiran Bedi, Satyajeet Ray are among the noted recipients .
